Hola from the great country of Mexico. Growing up in the Central Valley of California has made Mexico almost a second home for Matt and me. The people, customs, smells, and food are all familiar. I miss having any Mexican heritage in Colorado it is a huge downside for the state.
What do you get when you mix 3 days in Cabo + 1 day in Acapulco= home made chips and tortillas, lots of beans and rice, and so many smiles your face hurts. It was fun to be here during the World’s Cup-our first night in Cabo Mexico beat Germany, I’m sure you can imagine the celebrating that went on around town. There is always the fear of drug cartel and we have been warned to stick to the tourist areas, but we of course walked outside of that area into the heart of town. I always prefer to support local people more than tourist areas. This is very true of Mexico where everything is so very corrupt. Tourist areas are fake sanitized areas for making money, the hard working people struggling to buy food are only a few blocks past that. While it does make me nervous, I do prefer to help locals as often as possible. Well from here we had further south to Guatemala, Costa Rica, Colombia, Grand Cayman then HOME! 10 more days to see all of God’s beauty!
